Take a look at the chart, it is a simple pie chart. Each section of the pie chart represents a day in your cycle.

The circle is divided into 32 pieces, this is to allow for the different lengths that we sometimes experience from month to month. If your cycle is longer than 32 days, simply divide a few of the sections to make extra days. If your cycle is shorter than 32 days, just block the extra sections out.

This is your time to express so feel free to chart however is right for you. If you would like a little inspiration have a look at the example chart provided.

Start the diagram by shading in day 1. This day represents the first day of your cycle and therefore the first day of menstruation.

Label each chunk with the day of the cycle, (clockwise) this will keep a track of where you are. Mark the date of month on the inner of the chunk, so you can also see at a glance where you are in the month. We advise you also put the letter of the week outside each chunk and the date. This allows you know what day it is even after you have had a couple days break from charting.

Then it’s time to listen to your body. Within each month you feel different. Sometimes you have a lot of energy, other times you are feeling flat and low. What about emotions? Are you feeling calm and relaxed, excited and focused, irritable and cranky? Think about your relationships. Are you independent, feeling great with your own company? Or are you more patient and considerate of others? Are a home body; while other times you are independent, world-savvy women. It is important to keep track of these fluctuations to allow you to understand and express yourself and ultimately to have the best fun you can within your cycle. When filling in your chart use the same words and colours each month, this makes it easy for you to compare months.

Write yourself a key chart to remind you of the words or colours you like to use. But remember… this is your chart so mould it and change it as you change.
