There is so much information about different menstrual products available and as a mum (who still gets her periods) with a daughter with her periods I wanted to see what “was the go” for women. So this is what I found in my very local research – WARNING – no official research piece was done to get this information!!!

Younger women are really getting drawn to the menstrual cups. So even though the experience for me involved the cleaning of bathroom walls upon removal, they seems to be SUPER popular with the ‘young ones’ which is great. It may be the fact young women ARE talking a BIT more about their cycles and open to things, it could be this age group is more conscious of the environment and see the cost effectiveness of a menstrual cup rather than the expense of buying tampons and pads! Thankfully now, you have a great choice of menstrual cups with some being manufactured in Australia too.

I’m a HUGE fan though of the undies! Modibodi is an Australian company and I purchased the knickers a few months ago and I am officially hooked. They feel just like normal undies with a small pad, super light – even the ‘heavy day’ ones. They come in a huge range of colours and styles and when you think about how much you save on purchasing tampons etc, they really are economical too. I wash them out separately first and then pop them in the wash with everything else and they are too easy!

Funnily though, my daughter and her friends were really a bit turned off them by the sound of them. So they seem to be more popular with an older demographic – again this is JUST in MY group of friends, which some may say are limited numbers!!!!

Of course there was still a large majority of women who like (well LIKE is a strong word)….who choose to use tampons and pads, purely for convenience and its simple. And no judgement here as I often will still grab a tampon if I am at work and my periods come unexpected – I certainly don’t carry around a pair of the knickers in my bag!!

So just some ideas for those of you still contemplating a change…
